On December 1, 2008 Brent Warner (Interim Executive Director of Farmers` Markets Canada, FMC) gave a presentation as part of the Canadian Farm Business Management Council's (CFBMC) 'Agriwebinar' Series. In this presentation, he discusses the rise in farmers markets across the country and what is spurring this growth. He also examines what is required to move this industry forward in a professional manner as consumers seek assurance about their food supply and turn in ever increasing numbers to their local producers. Having recently visited markets, vendors and managers across the country, he details the successes and challenges faced by all players in the industry and the economic impact some larger markets are having on urban areas, producers and consumers.
