local food dot is a non-commercial website dedicated to supporting the local food movement in Nova Scotia. Content can be contributed by anyone involved in the Nova Scotia local food movement, for access by everyone else who’s involved.
local food dot provides a single place on the web where all the various people, agencies and organizations working on some part of the movement can share information, and connect with each other. local food dot has been made possible thanks to an innovative adaptation of open-source software by SAHDigital of Hantsport, Farmers' Markets partner in web development, with substantial contributions of public funding from the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Agri-Futures Nova Scotia (for the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada "Advancing Canadian Agriculture and Agri-Food" (ACAAF) program). This web system allows us to go beyond email as a means of sharing information. - When you submit content to local food dot, it's write once: reach everyone, permanently.
- Submitted content, once published, can be edited (or unpublished) by its author directly, at any time.
- Submitted information is placed in a related section of the site, and is permanently archived. No more searching for that email, or its attachment.
- Readers can identify authors through their participant directory listing, and so know the source of the information our site presents.
Our objective is to enable people to work together to create a single place on the web where all the results being achieved by all the people working on the local food issue in Nova Scotia can be made available for everyone's consideration, where all the events associated with their activities can be listed to create a calendar, and where participants can share a commonly created and maintained contact database.
If you would like to help to develop the resources of this site, please Register as a Participant.
