Our thanks to Maggie Pacquet, a veteran environmentalist and friend who lives in Port Alberni, BC for sending this link because she thought we might be interested.

This television commercial, apparently produced by Hellman's Mayonnaise, is an amazing example of the impact of the Canadian local food movement. See also Hellman's Canadian website.

Notice down at the bottom of the page in small faint type the reference to Unilever, one of the largest transnational food / grocery product corporations in the world.

Hellman's is a "Canadian" Unilever brand. Which means that a corporation that can afford to direct expensive advertising to address the concerns of any consumer group considers it important to be seen in Canada as supporting the Canadian local food movement. See the FMNS editorial here .

"Mad Men" anyone?
