There is a forum happening in Bridgewater, called "Exploring a Local Food System" on Monday, November 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Holy Trinity Anglican Church Hall, 78 Alexandra Avenue.
The meeting is being called by the Lunenburg / Queens Food Action Committee. That includes the Community Health Boards, Second Story Women's Centre, Family Resource Centre/Support Centre, and NS Public Health. The organizers invite community leaders, health practitioners, food vendors, farmers, consumers, producers, politicians, and anyone else who would like to contribute. Join us for a participative day where we will: - Make visible and connect together the different parts of a local food system
- Uncover opportunities to move forward together - what's the best bang for our buck?
- Launch an action team to carry forward the outcomes of this day.
We will explore: Why a local food system is important to you? How we develop a local food system that benefits us all? How we create/develop a fair, affordable, sustainable, local food system? There will be a marketplace that is an opportunity for you to share your product either through display or samples, and to meet others. Snacks and lunch will be provided free. All food will be prepared by local chefs using local produce. RSVP before October 24, to Melanie Newell:
