There are more than a dozen great farms in the Maritimes looking for apprentices. This is the type of work where you'll learn something new everyday, use your brain and build muscle, plus eat great food.
There are farms with livestock, CSA's, market gardens; some are near cities, others on the ocean! All farms have an organic or sustainable production plan. In addition to daily mentoring, you'll receive room and board and there's usually a small stipend. No experience necessary. You must be at least 18 years old and commit a minimum of 8 weeks. Some farms will accept couples/friends too. What better way could you spend your summer? For more information or to apply, visit www.soilapprenticeships.org/martimesfarms.html Are you a farm looking for an apprentice? You're welcome to join too, just visit the same website. This program is supported in part by the Atlantic Canada Organic Regional Network (ACORN), Agri-Futures NS, PEI ADAPT, and Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada. |
